Hello past, present, and hopeful future customers,

July 16th, 2021 - I am writing this to inform everyone that as of this announcement, The Twisted Pine Woodworking Company will be officially ceasing operations as it is currently known. With the current situation of my life and working with the provincial government, I no longer have the time I need to fulfill your dream of custom quality wood furniture at a low price. I know I said in the last statement that TPW would not be closing, but I could not predict what the future would hold. For that I apologize. Another reason that I am doing this is because of the price of wood. It is VERY hard to offer low cost furniture with quality craftsmanship when the price of wood has increased over 325% since I started, and I have not really raised my prices. (Even though I keep saying I will) A 8 foot 2” x 4” was $2.08 when I started out. It was $10.50 for the exact same board last time I bought wood. This means I am working for way less pay. This is a major reason why it has become harder and harder to find woodworkers locally as many have fallen due to the price of lumber and what people want to pay.

I started out Twisted Pine Woodworking as a result of being medically released from the military due to a neck injury, in which I had no idea if I could ever work a full time job again. I decided that working for myself was the best option as this way I could work when my body would let me, and take breaks when I needed to. (without a boss yelling at me). After a couple of years, while I loved doing what I did in woodworking, the 24/7 life at home was getting to me. Not having meaningful interactions with people daily (other than my beautiful wife!) was affecting my mental health, which is why I found a part time job. The part time job I found was with the BC Government. As has been said before, due to COVID, that part time job became full time and I just didn’t have time for woodworking the way I wanted it to be and it was not fair for you guys.

So what does “officially ceasing operations as it is currently known” mean?

It means that TPW will no longer be doing custom builds at all. There will be no more custom builds or quotes for furniture or signs. The domain of twistedpinewoodworking.com will be pointing to the TPW Facebook page soon and the website will be gone.

--But why are you keeping your socials up and running if you are shutting down?--

Because I don’t want to fully close everything I worked for. My plan is, when I have time, to make prebuilt furniture and have it for sale. I will put these items up on Facebook. Both on the TPW Facebook page, and in the marketplace. This way I can still build things and sell them doing what I love doing, and hopefully someone loves my work that they buy it. But it will be on my time without the stress of timelines. Most of the time the items will be in the most popular colors. Also, most of the time these will be bed frames of various sizes, or smaller end table type things. Simply due to space of storing them if they don’t sell right away.

Again, I apologize to people who have expressed that they wish to purchase a custom build from me during the time orders have been closed and were waiting for it to reopen. I am thankful for each and every customer I have had, from those who shared my work on social media to business’s who bought from me and promoted my work. I also want to send a special thank you to those in the very beginning who took a leap on an unknown woodworking business and put your faith in me.

I hope you understand and again I thank you all for your patronage to build The Twisted Pine Woodworking Company up.

-Dan
